Lifelong Skagit Valley resident Julie Helen (Stewart) Lind, transitioned peacefully on Sunday, August 4th, 2024 in Mount Vernon with her faithful husband of 48 years, Dennis, by her side. Born October 25, 1953, to Ernie & Helen Stewart, she was the youngest of 10 Stewart children. Julie attended Mount Vernon High ('71), where she met Dennis. She then attended College of Great Falls & Skagit Valley College. Julie and Dennis Lind married June 12, 1976 at the Catholic Church in Mount Vernon.
In her work life, Julie retired from Northwest Chiropractic where she served as their primary bookkeeper (and other roles) for nearly 20 years. Julie also supported Skagit Valley Medical Center and Huntley Gordon Insurance.
Julie shined brightest for loved ones at home. The ultimate supporter & cheerleader for her family and husband, she was the glue keeping friends & family together. She attended countless sports events to cheer on Dennis, Nicolas & Sheena as they competed in softball, baseball & basketball. She rarely missed a game, and always made sure to keep them fueled on the field, while working full time. Julie loved hosting buffet style meals for holidays and parties. Feeding family & friends was her love language. Her door was always open, with food to share with siblings, nieces, nephews and stray friends.
Julie enjoyed active recreation. She loved hiking, walking, biking, kayaking, gardening, & sporting events. Annual trips with Dennis to Maui, Lake Chelan and their daily walks around the MVHS track or up Little Mountain were highlights!
Recently, her passion transitioned to pouring into her six Grandchildren. She loved attending games & performances. She delivered care packages of candy and clothes often. Her prized possessions were photos of grandkids and their artwork. We are fortunate that she chose to give her famous chocolate chip cookie recipe to Isla!
Julie is survived by husband, Dennis (Mount Vernon), son & daughter in law Nicolas & Emily Lind (Tacoma), their four children Everly (12), Elowyn (9), Josephine & Jonathan (6) Lind and daughter and son in law Sheena & Ben Jones (Mount Vernon), their two children Isla (13) and Theodore (9) Jones. Also, siblings Diane (Jack) Larsen, Mary Stewart, Gary Stewart, Fay Shane, Edward Stewart, Susan (Alan) Williams & John (Sue) Stewart and dozens of loving nieces and nephews.
While she is gone the love from her Ohana under the Linden Tree lives on. Please join us for a celebration of her life on Wednesday, August 28th, 2pm at Saltbox Barn, Fir Island.
