Julie Norton Boomgaard made her final journey into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at her home. Julie was born on November 08, 1959 to Robert and Marcia Norton in Boulder, Colorado. She spent her childhood in Boulder, and graduated from Boulder High School in 1978. She attended Colorado State University and earned a Bachelor of Education degree. In 1980, Julie completed a 100 day Semester at Sea, cruising around the world. This began a love for travel, and she made many wonderful memories cruising with her family. Julie met her husband and love of her life Peter Boomgaard, and both graduated and were married in May 1982. Julie taught in the Boulder Valley School District and raised her family. The family moved to Texas in 1999, and Julie spent time teaching secondary business and Math in Sugarland, Texas. Julie and Peter returned to Colorado in 2006, and have made their home in Grand Junction since. Julie attended Life Community Church. Besides cruising, she enjoyed serving in Church, walking, skiing, gardening, hiking, cooking and spending time with her family. Julie had an infectious laugh and a joyful spirit. She leaves behind husband, Peter, son Mark of Kingwood, Texas, daughter, Natalie of Grand Junction, a brother Bill and wife Bridget Norton of Richmond, Texas, and grandson, Samson McCaleb. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
