Mrs. Julianne Evans Weber Mathis, age 72, of Rome, GA, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 13, 2022.
Julie was born in Shelbyville, Kentucky on November 8, 1949. She graduated from Waggener High School, in Louisville, Kentucky, class of 1967. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Murray, KY, where she earned many yearly awards as a youth for perfect attendance. She later attended Saint Matthews United Methodist Church, in St. Matthews, KY. She worked for various roofing companies in sales, contracting and estimations, until she started her own roofing company, making her the first female to own a roofing company in Georgia. Julie remarried to William E. Mathis Jr. in 1995, moved to Rome, Georgia and became a member of Second Avenue Methodist Church. She truly loved people and caring for them as an independent caregiver and hospice volunteer for Transitions Hospice Care. She was also a substitute teacher for Armuchee Elementary School and Armuchee Middle School.
Julie was the daughter of the late Ann Carolyn Tribble Evans and Julian Iran Evans. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Emory Mathis, Jr. Survivors include her sons, Jason Matthew Weber (Lisa) and Troy Weber; sisters, Susan Evans Eckles (Don) and Harriet Evans Cobb; niece, Janice Luten Callis (Steve); great niece, Caitlin Ann Chavis (Wayne); great-great nephew, Zane Logan Riggle; daughter-in-law, Janet Mathis Langston (Tony); son-in-law, David Mathis (Angela); 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at 4:00pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Millie Kim officiating. Entombment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens in Snellville Georgia on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 3:00pm.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:30pm until time of the service at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel.
