MALEY YARBROUGH FUNERAL HOME
Julian Wise Smith, Jr., age 81, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2022 at his home in Covington, TN. He was an outdoors man who loved duck hunting and golfing. Wise was a creative soul and the world's greatest architect. He was the owner and operator of his own architect business, J Wise Smith and Associates. He was a wonderful story teller to his grandchildren and a faithful member of the 2nd Presbyterian Church in Memphis.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Joyce Cooper Smith, two sons; Jeffrey Scott Smith, (Leslie Dalton), Hunter Smith, (Mollie Smith), a daughter, Michelle Smith Shivers, (Bradley Shivers), ten grandchildren: Julian Wise Smith, III, (Trey), Emily Velasco, (Ralph Velasco), Owen Shivers, Adam Shivers, Grace Stivers, August Smith, Evan Smith, Dalton Johnson, Kelsie Johnson, Dawson Johnson, three great-grandchildren: Avery Velasco, Teagan Velasco and Ward Shivers, nephew, Billy Rye and many lifelong friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Smith and a sister, Betty Sue Thornton.
In lieu of flowers Memorial may be offered to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family will host a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
