FORT WORTH - Julia Sue Simmons passed peacefully into the loving arms of her savior on Tuesday, July 24, 2018.
Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Greenwood.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Southern Christian Home of Morrilton, Ark., 72110, in honor of Julian E. Reynolds who has ministered and worked at the home for children for many years.
Sue was born in East Texas near Leesburg on June 22, 1937, to Grady and Geraldine Reynolds. She was the third of four children. She attended schools in East Texas and graduated from Forrest Ave. High School in Dallas. Her older brother, Bill brought home a military buddy for the weekend and it was love at first sight with Sue. Soon after her graduation, she married her only love, James R. Simmons. They were married on Aug. 5, 1955, at Park Avenue Church of Christ in Dallas.
They left immediately for their honeymoon and then to Washington State. She spent the next 20 years raising their children while following Jim's Air Force career from Washington, Massachusetts, Texas, Japan, Delaware, Alaska, New York and then back to Texas, where he retired. She worked at various locations, mainly at banking and office management.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Sue Simmons; parents; and brother, Bill Reynolds.
Survivors: Husband, James R. Simmons; sons, Gary Simmons and wife, Carol and James Simmons; grandson, Gary Simmons; brother, William Reynolds and wife, Barbara; and sister, Elizabeth Robinson and husband, Albert.
