Mrs. Julia Gail Magness, 80, of Gore Springs, MS, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS on Sunday, July 25, 2021. She was born on August 6, 1940, in Turkey, TX. She was a devoted Christian and faithful member of Red Hill Church of Christ. She was employed at McQuay, Inc, in Grenada, MS from 1968 until the early 2000's, witnessing the company undergo several ownership and name changes. She spent some 30 years of her time there as the Executive Assistant. She devoted many years of her spare time reading and sewing clothing and other items for her family, friends, and others.
She is survived by a son, Jeffrey Magness of Selma, AL; daughters, Melanie (William) Cook of Gore Springs, MS, and Diana (Robert) Todd, also of Gore Springs; a great-granddaughter, Jade (Anthony) Sivilisaine of Selma, AL; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn (Lee) Latting of Clovis, CA; brother, Joe Johnson of Elliott, MS; and three nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Leon Magness; her father, Foy Eugene Johnson; her mother, Jimmie Lee Johnson; and a brother, Raymond Johnson.
Services will be held at Pryor Funeral Home of Calhoun City at 10:00am on Thursday, July 29, 2021, with Bro. Cole Surrell officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Slate Springs.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Magness, William Cook, and Robert Todd.
