It is with profound sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Julia Margarita Lira who was a beloved mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend. She departed her family on January 12, 2021, at the age of 63. She was a kind, caring soul and a devoted catholic who was a lifetime resident of Oxnard, California, and a 1976 graduate of Channel Islands High School. She worked for Oxnard and Hueneme School Districts as a Bilingual Para-Professional Educator, later retiring from Hueneme School District after 30 years. After retirement, she dedicated her time to her family and used her spare time to attend Oxnard College to finish what she once started. In doing so, she received her Associates of Arts degree and was looking forward to walking the line in her cap and gown to receive her diploma once the pandemic was over. Sadly, she did not get to do that. She was the eldest of 9 children. She is survived by her wonderful 3 boys, Isidro Lira, Rafael Lira Jr. (Mayra), and Gabriel Lira who she referred to as her "Beluga," 7 grandchildren who she loved and spent most of her time with Melissa, Sophia, Emma, Joseph, Leslie, Layla, and Alyssa. She is also survived by her mother, Lucila Gonzalez, who will miss her deeply as well as 8 siblings, Luz Chavez (Gerardo), Jose Gonzalez (Amelia), Enrique Gonzalez (Elaine), Maria Lopez (Julio), Gloria Ramirez (Melchor), David Gonzalez, Alicia Chavez, Raul Gonzalez, as well as extended family. She will be greatly missed by many and live in our hearts forever. Our Lord Jesus Christ, her father, Alfredo Gonzalez, and her husband, the love of her life, Rafael Lira will be waiting to greet her in heaven with open arms.
