Julia Ann (Judy) McCourtney Leek, 91, quietly left this earth on Saturday, April 9th, 2022, at her residence of care in Bedford. She was born February 8, 1931 in Pocahontas, Arkansas to the late Bon and Lillian Cash McCourtney. No doubt, Judy was greeted by the love of her life, Bill and the many loved family and friends. They had all been waiting for Judy to get to heaven to get the party started!
Judy grew up in Jonesboro, Arkansas with her sisters, Danie and Bonnie, and later, Carolyn and Kathy. She ventured to Odessa to work and raise her 2 sons, Ronnie and Dan, along with the help of sister Danie. While in Odessa, she worked for Stow and Harmon Law Firm for many years. During this time she met her soul mate and love, Bill Leek. After 9 years, they finally married. Judy inherited a daughter, Suzanne, and Bill loved Ronnie and Dan as his own. Judy eventually went to work with Bill and his brother, Don, at Leek Fire & Safety until Bill's passing, and the family eventually sold the business. Judy later moved to The Remington in Irving to be closer to her sons and their families. There she made some special friends, but Judy always loved her Odessa family and friends, and they loved her. Open the Odessan Magazine and there you would find Judy, not at just one social gathering, but many! Judy loved to travel and cruise with Bill and family to exotic islands, fun cities, and she especially loved to take family to La Jolla, CA where she hoped they would love it as much as she and her sisters did. Oh, the stories that could be told!
In addition to her parents, Julia is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Leek; brother-in-law, Don Leek; stepmother, Geraldine McCourtney; sisters, Danie Lebow, Bonnie Brock, Carolyn Tomlinson; and grandson, TJ Peoples.
