Julia Louise "Tookey" Farkosh, 94, of Somerset, died December 4, 2020 at The Patriot. Born December 9, 1925 in Gallitzin, she is the daughter of Angelo and Elva (Bricca) Talamonti. Preceded in death by her parents, husband John William Farkosh Sr. who died July 29, 1982, brother Concezio Talamonti, sister Dolores Farkosh, and an infant daughter Regina Farkosh. Survived by her children: John W. Farkosh Jr. of Stoystown, Elvira "Pip" Scalise and husband Philip of Pittsburgh, Mary Susan Farkosh and husband Walton Francis of Fairfax, VA, Joan Foust of Somerset, grandchildren: Amy Frisbee and husband Steve, Michael Scalise, Gabby Farkosh, Emily, Mia and Olivia Foust, three great-grandhchildren: Maddie, Tyler, and Declan, also many nieces and nephews, Virginia Dellinger who came to live with the family at the age of 10 months, until she started school, and sister-in-law Mary Talamonti of East Point, Michigan. Tookey was a graduate of the former Gallitzin High School, and CVMC School of nursing class of 1948, she worked for a number of years at Somerset Hospital as a floor duty and O.R. nurse , and was health coordinator for:Somerset County Head Start. She volunteered for a number of years at the former State Hospital in ceramics, and was school nurse at St. Peter's School, she volunteered also for Tableland Services and the blood bank at St. Peter's Hall, she did altar care at St. Peter's, gave shots to the nuns, and took care of the convent during school vacation. She was also a member of Sons and Daughters of Italy. Friends received 2-6 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Somerset, a mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Somerset with Father Angelo Patti Celebrant.
