JULIA MAE BROWN BERRY
Julia Mae Brown Berry, age 91, passed away peacefully January 10, 2021. Born December 3, 1929 in Chattooga County, Georgia to the late John Henry and Eva Mae Williams Brown, she spent her childhood and attended school in this community. In 1957 she married the love of her life Arthur Lewis Berry Sr. who preceded her in death in 1981.
She was a member of the St. James A.M.E. Zion where she held countless leadership roles and touched the lives of thousands.
She was preceded in death by her brother Harper Lee Brown and 3 grandsons, Galvin and Calvin Cammack and Dexter Mizelle. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Priscilla Ann Roberts, Phelia Aline Adams (Robert), Sarah Berry-Rabun; Mary Berry, Anna Berry, Hazel Mizelle (David), Auther Lewis Berry Jr. (Lisa); step-daughters: Delores Dupree and Mattie Jones; adopted daughter in-love: Janice Turner (Carlton); grandchildren: Carolyn Jones Monyei, Raynard Dupree (Angela), Derrick Rabun (Yolanda), Dale McCurty, LaShon Berry, Shirelle Jones (Tony), LaTonna Jones, LaDonna (Cliff) Bullett, Shunda Jackson (Stefan), David Mizelle III, Nakeya Dukes, Kwonnia Rushin, Preston Jones, Kizzy Adams, Julian Rabun, Tyus Hudson, Ray Willis, and Nigel Hampton; and a host of great, grate-grate and great-great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff and many special friends, including members of the Red Hatters Club, at A.G. Rhodes Atlanta Health & Rehab Center who provided invaluable care and friendship to Mom for the last few years of her life.
Julia Mae Brown Berry will be forever remembered for her beautiful smile, gentle eyes, caring heart, loving embrace and unconditional love. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate and cherish the memories of her life and find comfort that she is in heaven watching over us.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to F.K. Jones Funeral Home 1205 MLK, Jr. Blvd. Rome, GA 30161. Services will be on Saturday, January 16 at 12:00 noon in Rome, Georgia at Greater Christ Temple Rapture Preparation Cathedral. Interment will follow at East View Cemetery, Rome. Due to the current COVID crisis, there will be no repast. The service will be streamed via Facebook live from Frank Jones page (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100033178172707 ).
