Judy Terrel, 75, of Canyon, has passed away. Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday May 15th at St. Ann's Catholic Church and a graveside blessing at Memory Gardens afterwards.
Judy was born in Canyon, in 1945 to Joe and Ida Frank, third of 5 daughters. She received her bachelor's degree from West Texas State College with a passion for photography. She married Gary Terrel and raised three children. Judy was known for a kind heart, big smile, and West Texas stubbornness. One would typically find her wearing
t-shirts, boots, and jeans, enjoying her favorite baloney sandwich, and out hiking Palo Duro Canyon. Visitors to her home would invariably drink too much ice tea, view her family and nature photo albums, and walk her acre of garden. Judy was an accomplished seamstress, always having a quilt project for an expecting mother. Her career varied from meat packing, waiting, bindery work to teaching, never shying from hard work. Together with her husband, she ran a wedding photography business on the side, losing money but giving joy to folks who couldn't afford more. She and her husband were parishioners at St. Ann's Catholic Church.
Survivors include her children, Shannon, Ruthanne, and Andy and her sisters Velma, Sue and Eva and her grandchildren Joseph, Samantha, Virgil, Andrew, Piper, Genevieve, Logan, and Elizabeth.
Judy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary and sister Mary Anne.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to sisters of the St. Benedict Monastery,
