Judy Christine Brown Hough, of Keizer, OR passed away suddenly on April 6th at Salem Hospital at the age of 79 years.
Judy was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 22nd, 1942 to her parents Dorothy Klein and Robert Dale Brown. She was raised by her mother and step-father, Orville Elmore, and due to her step-father's military service, the family moved around quite a bit before settling down in Colorado Springs, CO. Judy met and married Henry Leon (Lee) Mayjor in Colorado Springs, CO in 1960. Together, Judy and Lee raised their two sons, Kevin and Bryan, enjoying family camping and jeeping trips while the boys were small. When her sons began school, Judy attended El Paso College (now Pikes Peak Community College) to become an LPN. After Judy and Lee divorced in 1975, Judy spent time living in Denver and Las Vegas, NV, finally settling down in Leesburg, VA, where she pursued her associates degree in nursing from Northern Virginia Community College.
Judy met her beloved husband, Osborne (Red) Hough in Virginia, and they married at Christmas time in 1987. Red was a minister at the United Methodist Church when they met, and they enjoyed attending services and participating in social events at the Galilee United Methodist Church in Leesburg, VA. Judy worked at Virginia Hospital Center as a certified chemical dependency nurse for many years, and she was devoted to her patients and colleagues alike.
Judy's husband Red passed away a few years after suffering a stroke, and in 2009, she retired from her nursing job and left the East Coast to move to Oregon where her best friend Myrtle Carr lives as well as where one of her son's and his family live. While living in Oregon, Judy loved exploring the Oregon coast, going to 4-H rabbit shows and playing any game she could get her hands on, especially Bingo. Judy had a lifelong membership, beginning in 1971, in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, joining various chapters wherever she chose to live. She recently celebrated fifty years of sorority life, where she met many lifelong friends, went on interesting trips and participated in various charitable projects, such as establishing scholarships for high school students.
Judy is survived by her son Kevin Mayjor and his wife Katie, her son Bryan Mayjor and his wife Jeannie and child Megan. She is also survived by her step-son Neil Hough and his wife Anne and their sons Rob Richardson and Andrew Richardson, and by her step-daughter Laura Shelton and her husband Chris, and their son Jacob.
