Memorial service for Judy Carlson will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2024 in Abundant Life Assembly of God, Geronimo, with Rev. Tony Elkins, Pastor officiating.

Judy Carlson, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at her home in Geronimo, Oklahoma. She was born on September 23, 1943, in Hobart, Oklahoma, to Henry and Jewel Smith. Judy moved to Lawton at a young age and graduated from Lawton High School. She began her higher education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She later earned her bachelor's degree from Cameron University in 1981 while rearing 4 school-aged children. She married Richard L. "Rick" Carlson on April 10, 1990. He preceded her in death on December 10, 2021.
A dedicated homemaker and mother, Judy also worked on Ft. Sill as a young woman. She worked for many years at the Lawton institution Johnson's Bakery, working with her sister and Brother-in-law who owned the bakery. She was a member of Abundant Life Assembly of God in Geronimo. She was actively involved in the Geronimo Senior and Community Center, finding joy in its many activities and connections.
Judy came from a long line of artists and was a talented artist herself with a passion for painting. She was also known for her talent for painting murals for her family members. She also loved bowling and cheering on her favorite sports teams, especially the OU Sooners.
She is survived by her four sons, U.S. Army LTC Todd Hammond (wife-Jenny), Timm Hammond (wife - Rhonda), U.S. Navy CPO Tyson Hammond, and Clinton (CJ) Carlson; her daughter, Teea Henry (husband - John); grandchildren, Zachary Carlson (Katie), Paisley Carlson, Ciera Garza (Marty), Kenze Carlson, U.S. Air Force Capt Justin Hammond (Carmen), Nikki Hammond, Brittany Schroeder, Taylor Henry, Zachary Hammond, Kaleigh Hammond and Tristan Hammond; great grandchildren, Jenks Carlson, Roman Garza and Ranger Carlson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Danny Carlson, daughter, Danni, two brothers, Max and Edward, and two sisters, June and Barbara.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Geronimo Senior and Community Center.
