Help us celebrate Judith! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember Judith.
On Wednesday September 25, Judith L. Leavis, a loving wife and mother of two, passed away peacefully at age 77. Judy earned her Bachelors Degree at Cardinal Cushing College and her Masters at Boston College. She met her husband Paul in Boston in 1969. They were together for nearly 55 years.
Judy was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her family dearly and was happiest when they were all together. Judy was also an active member of the community. She and Paul had a small farm where they raised sheep, cows, pigs and chickens. Judy made butter and ice cream from the milk and spun wool into yarn. She loved sharing her skills and passion through demonstrations in the schools and community. Judy was the pastoral associate and director of religious education at St. Joseph's Parish where she touched the lives of many. She was an active member of the school board and she enjoyed her time as a substitute teacher. Judy was the owner of the local working nursery, The Garden Center of Epping, where in early Spring, she invited the community in to witness the planting and nurturing of their future gardens.
Judy was predeceased by her parents Lemar & Margaret Pipkins, her sister Stella Raudenbush and her brother Elbert Pipkins.
Judy is survived by her husband Paul. Her son and daughter-in-law Jeremy & Erica Leavis, her daughter and son-in-law Allison & Dana LaRoche, her grandchildren and their families, Hope, Miles, Malaya, Mikale, Kelvin, Kingston, Mathias & Atlas, her siblings and their families Robert Pipkins and Jerrolyn Simpson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Judy's departure is gravely felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her. The visitation will be held on Tuesday October 1 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Brewitt's Funeral Home in Epping.
