Help us celebrate Judith! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember Judith.
Judith Margaret Morrissey, nee Johnson, died on July 2, 2022 from a series of respiratory and cardio-vascular events at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, in Lebanon, NH. She would have celebrated her 78th birthday in August.
Judy was born on August 27, 1944 in Haverhill, Massachusetts to William R. and Florence M. Johnson.
In 1962, she graduated from Haverhill High School and entered the Mary Hitchcock Memorial School of Nursing the following September.
She married Anthony T.E. Morrissey in November 1963 and the couple had a son and daughter.
Judy's professional career started in Boston at Children's Hospital with subsequent positions in Colorado, Missouri, Massachusetts, Virginia, and New Hampshire. She loved nursing and worked parttime at the LSVNA until the last week of her life. Her accomplishments are too many to mention. She was frequently the subject of local newspaper articles wherein she would discuss children's health issues; while being praised for her kind, gentle and playful interactions with her patients.
Judy loved animals and was never willingly without a dog and cat. She was an accomplished cook, "interior designer", photographer, gardener, and world traveler. She often combined her passions, attending a cooking course in Tuscany with her friends.
Her wanderlust began with a trip to Honduras in 1961, ending with a June 2022 trip with her daughter and granddaughter to Northern Ireland and Ireland.
She is pre-deceased by her parents William R. and Florence M. Johnson and her brother William R. Johnson. She is survived by her son Jeffrey and his wife Connie of Woodbridge, Virginia; her daughter Amanda and her husband Paul and their daughter Amelia, of Georges Mills, N.H.; her Sister-in-Law Gloria Johnson and her nieces all of whom reside in Massachusetts.
There will be a celebration of life, the date of which is to be determined in an attempt to accommodate the vast locations of her friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Colby-Sawyer Nursing program. In the check's memo line, enter Judith Morrissey, and send it to the following address.
