Judith "Judy" T. (McDougall) Tibbetts, 85, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown, NH after a 36 year long, hard-fought battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born on June 30, 1935 in Manchester, NH, Judy was the daughter of Robert and Mabel (Dillon) McDougall and a direct descendant of Major John Dunlap and the Dunlap Furniture Cabinet Makers. Judy spent the first 3 years of her life at the McDougall Farm Family homestead on Addison Road in Goffstown. In 1938, Judy's parents bought the house at the intersection of Shirley Hill Road and Back Mountain Road in Goffstown, and Judy lived there for most of the rest of her life.
Shortly after graduation from Central High School, Class of 1953A, Judy married the love of her life, Frank Tibbetts, and joined him at various duty posts for the United States Air Force until 1964. Sadly, Frank predeceased Judy in April of 2019.
Judy moved back to Shirley Hill Road with Frank and her children in 1967 and remained there until July of 2020 when her long, extended illness with Parkinson's Disease necessitated more care at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home.
Judy was a long-time member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church and was very active with her husband in charitable affairs in the Goffstown community. Before Parkinson's Disease robbed her of her physical abilities, Judy and Frank were avid Square Dancers, and they enjoyed traveling to visit relatives and friends in far-flung locations.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Linda Tibbetts Clark and her husband Mark, her daughter, Karen A. Tibbetts, and her two grandsons, Ian Clark and Zachary Clark, all of Goffstown. Judy is also survived by her sister, Mary Ann (McDougall) Kuenne of Santa Clara, California, and her brother, Robert "Bob" and his wife, Jef, McDougall of Kingston, NH. Judy is also survived by her late husband's family, Raymond and Pat Tibbetts of Goffstown and Olive "Ollie" Tibbetts of Tamworth, NH, as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Judy was predeceased by her husband, Frank, her parents and her brother, William Ira McDougall.
There are no calling hours. A graveside service and burial will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shirley Hill Cemetery in Goffstown, NH.
