Reverend Judith Kay Daning (Shepherd) Harrington 74, of Harbor Springs, Michigan was promoted to heaven on April 26, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.
Judith Kay was born May 22, 1945 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Albert and Mildred (Zuidema) Daning. She moved to Harbor Springs with her father and sister Patricia Pemberton. She attended Harbor Springs High School and graduated in 1964.
In 1964 she married Richard Shepherd and together raised their children Kay and Rick Shepherd.
Judith Kay married Jay Harrington in 1997. They resided in Harbor Springs. Judith Kay loved the Lord and founded Dove Ministries International 40 years ago and established Intensive Training Institute Bible School. She was the senior minister of Fresh Start Church in Petoskey, Michigan for over 35 years. She enjoyed preaching and teaching and traveled to over 20 countries sharing God's word.
Her hobbies included writing, knitting, reading, and was a master gardener. Her love for reading led her to write and publish 25 books. She also loved her long-haired miniature dachshund, Buddy.
Judith Kay is survived by her husband Jay of 22 years. Her children Kay (Charlie) Wagar, Rick (Sarah) Shepherd, and Rebecca (Scott) Adams all of Harbor Springs. Jay's daughter Tiffany (Shawn) Andrus of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Also, surviving are grandchildren Ben (Jessica) Silveus, Tori (Brandon) Landoski, Charlie Silveus, Zoe, Marlee, and Everett Shepherd, Jacey and Kara Adams, Jordan Myers, Landen and Nora Andrus. She has five great granddaughters. Also surviving are siblings Patricia Pemberton, Mike Penney, Danny Penney, Bobby Penny, Sharon Smith, Shirley Whitaker, Tony Daning, and Susie Burns.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Scott Daning and Don Daning.
The family suggests memorial donations be sent to Dove Ministries International at 2501 US-31 N. Petoskey, Michigan 49770. Donations will be sent to the various missionaries Judith Kay supported in her memory. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
