Judith (Gross) Gray, 76 of Manchester CT, passed away peacefully in her beloved Manchester home on September 3, 2021.
She was born in Meriden, CT on July 31, 1945, the youngest daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Nyiri) Gross. She graduated from Lyman Hall High School and married Arthur Gray in 1974. She worked several jobs including at Geremia Oil Company, Travelers Insurance and the Manchester School system, but found her favorite job to be mom to Joseph and Melissa.
She was a fixture at all of her kid's activities and brought her trademark smile and laugh to all occasions. Even as she struggled with various health issues, her love for her family, laugh and smile never wavered. Over the years, she added Grandma Judy and Mimi to her list of titles and she relished spending time with her grandchildren. She kept very busy in her retirement with knitting, baking, reading and playing games.
Judith is survived by her children and significant others, Joseph Gray (Meggan McGann) of Tolland CT, Melissa Gray-Murphy (Shawn) of Warwick RI, and her Stepdaughter Julie Banks of Chandler AZ as well as her grandchildren Jack and Grace Murphy and Zachary Banks. She is also survived by her sisters Barbara (Joseph) Mushinski and Mary Elizabeth Zysk, her nephews Joseph(Robin) Mushinski, Thomas (Shelly) Mushinski and her grand nieces and nephews Benny, Sammy and Gabby. She was predeceased by her in-laws Joseph and Alice Gray.
Funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday September 8, 2021 at The First Congregational Church, 23 South Main Street, Wallingford CT. Burial will follow the funeral at In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00-7:00pm at the John F Tierney Funeral Home 219 West Center St. Manchester, CT.
