Judith "Judy" Ann (Beirne) Glueck passed away peacefully on Friday, January 14, 2022 at home in Cat Spring, Texas. She leaves her husband of 50 years, James, her children, Alicea (Michael), James, Laura (Dennis), and Jonathon (Laura), her grandchildren, Mac, Aaron, Madison, Aideen, Mason, Elizabeth, Annabelle, and Frederick. She is also survived by her brother Jim and many nieces, nephews, and other loved ones. Judy is preceded in death by her parents William and Winifred, brothers Bill and John Beirne, and grandson Anthony Chaloupka.
Judy was born on February 22, 1950 in Houston, Texas, and attended St. Agnes High School and the University of Houston. Although raised in Houston, throughout her adult life Judy lived in Bryan; Tifton, GA; Hereford; Columbus; El Campo; Canyon; Keller; and Cat Spring. With each move, she broadened her circle of friends and loved ones.
She was a lifelong educator?teaching in Houston, El Campo, Canyon, Keller, and Amarillo; volunteering with 4-H youth development programs in Colorado, Wharton, and Randall Counties; and active in the local Catholic Church. Judy taught a range of grades and subjects, but she found special joy in helping Jr. High students discover the wonders of science. She treasured chance encounters with former students and colleagues who offered updates on their lives.
A funeral mass was held at St. Roch's Catholic Church, Mentz, Texas on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 10:00am with Rev. Robert Knippenberg officiating.
Visitation was held at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. A parish rosary followed at 6:00pm. Additional visitation was available at St. Roch's Catholic Church on Thursday from 9:00am to 10:00am.
Burial took place in Mentz, Texas at St. Roch's Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the family requested attendees wear masks and take other precautions.
Pallbearers included sons James and Jonathon, sons-in-law Michael Chaloupka and Dennis Jamouneau, and grandsons Mac and Aaron Chaloupka. Honorary pallbearers included brother Jim Beirne and grandsons Mason Chaloupka and Frederick Jamouneau.
