Judge Claude William Allen Jr. "Bill", 93, of Oxford passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at his home surrounded by family.
Bill was born in Granville County on October 31, 1928 to the late Claude William Allen Sr. and Mary Norwood.
Bill met the love of his life, Billie Smith, in Pilot Mountain on a hayride in 1949 and they later married in 1951. He graduated from Wilton High School, North Carolina State University with an Agriculture Degree and from the University of North Carolina Law School. Bill and his wife started the Double B Pine State Dairy Farm in 1954. He later became a lawyer, prosecutor and Chief District Court Judge until retirement. Bill was a lifelong member of Brassfield Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher for thirty years and as a deacon.
Funeral services will be private.
He is survived by two sons, Claude W. Allen III (Deborah) and John Norwood Allen (Ilene); four grandchildren, Claude W. "Bill" Allen IV (Stephanie), Sara Allen (Phil), Nicky Parrish (Dan) and Kelly Allen; four great-grandchildren, C.W. Allen V, Evelyn Parrish, Jack Allen and Ruby Parrish and one sister, Ruth Jeanne Allen Moss. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Smith Allen.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford.
