Mrs. Taylor was born May 20, 1931, in Etoile, Texas, to the late John Toney and Lillie (Cook) Toney, and died Wednesday, July 24, 2024, in Lukin.
Juanita loved her family and her church; she was a faithful member of Greater Love Tabernacle Church where she served as pianist for many years. As a small child her family moved from Etoile to Ora Texas where she began school at the age of 5. Later her family moved to Acol Texas just outside of Corrigan, and then on to Kelty's Texas. One of her fond memories is her mother making dresses for her out of feed sacks. They always had a big garden, with plenty of food, and were surrounded by love. After she grew up she moved to California and was married to Burl Taylor. While they lived there she worked at the airport for a year and later for a chemical company for 3 years. She and Burl moved back to Baytown Texas where she worked for a grocery store, wine garden, and ran a bakery until it went out of business. They then moved to Nogales Prairie. She loved to play the piano and the guitar for her church and never had a lesson, she was self-taught. She cooked all of the meals for her family, no sandwiches for them.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Roach of Lufkin, TX; daughter, Shannon Thomas of Rocky Hill, TX; daughter Rebecca Bashara of Plano, TX; son and daughter-in-law, John and Leslie Forteza of Houston, TX; daughter, Juanee "Sissy" Oates of Rocky Hill TX; grandchildren, Bubba roach of Huntington, TX, Kevin Roach of Lufkin, TX, Pam Ellison of Alaska, Nita Perkins Pierson, Amy Davidson, Marla Jason, and Kelly Gardner all of Rocky Hill, TX, Micah Bashara, Michaela Bashara, and Megan Bashara all of Plano, TX, Mandy Musselwhite and Mark Musselwhite of Rocky Hill, TX, Brandon Forteza of Austin, TX, and Amber Forteza of Houston, TX; along with numerous great grandchildren.
