Juanita "Jean" Lawrenson of Burlington passed away peacefully on June 30, 2021, at Mount Baker Care Center, Bellingham. Jean was born August 2, 1925, in Bellingham, Washington to Don and Lydia Pace.
In her youth she loved roller skating and dancing. Raised in Lynden, she attended Greenwood Elementary and graduated from Lynden High School in 1943. After high school she pursued a degree in Home Economics at WSU, where she created some of her most cherished memories. Her fondest memories were of traveling from Lynden to Pullman with two of her girlfriends in the open trunk of a car covered in blankets during the winter and sliding down the snowy hills on a luncheon tray laughing the entire time. As a proud Cougar she formed many friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Jean married Tom Lawrenson on September 17, 1948. Together they had three children.
She retired from Sears after working there for 25 years. In retirement she enjoyed water aerobics, baking and spending time with her grandchildren. Her pies were a legend.
She had an adventurous spirit, an infectious laugh and smile and a kind heart. She made friends wherever she went and was always quick to share stories about all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and as well as tales about growing up in Lynden and traditions passed down for generations. We will miss her smile, her loving hugs and of course the favorite desserts she would make for every single one of us.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and beloved son, Doug.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Jill Lawrenson, son, Rick (Kathy) Lawrenson, six grandchildren and their spouses, nine great-grandchildren and cousins Arlene Ball, Les (Linda) Bostrom and Dave (Barb)Bostrom. She touched many lives including extended family and dear friends Diane Lawrenson, Debbie Curwick and Lydia Trevino.
The family wishes to thank Creekside Community Care and Mount Baker Care Center for their loving and considerate care of our mom. Per her request, there will be no service.
