Juan L. Ortiz's family will celebrate his life of 83 years during the Holy Rosary recital, at 7:00 pm on Friday, January 29, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Mr. Ortiz will be laid to rest at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. He passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. In support of the health of his family, face coverings are mandatory while attending the service. The Holy Rosary will be live-streamed at www.memorialdesigners.net, where you are encouraged to sign the virtual guestbook and share memories and expressions of sympathy.
On June 23, 1937, Juan was born to Pedro and Inez Ortiz in Midland, Texas. He married Ramona Diaz Ortiz on October 10, 1955, in Midland, Texas. For the majority of his life, he worked in construction. After his retirement, he started a small business, Pascual's Place, for 14 years. He enjoyed greeting all the customers, who became like family. He loved to play pool and garden where he grew watermelons, cantaloupe, and jalape?os. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a great friend to many.
Survivors include his children, Maria (James) Rhodes, Jesse (Judy) Ortiz, and Joann (Joel) Chavez; grandchildren, Cynthia Ortiz, Jesse Ortiz, Jo Andrew (Annette) Ortiz, Christopher (Melissa) Gonzales, Lisa Clark, Jessica Campos, Rebecca Campos, Raymond (Samantha) Campos, Tassie (Jon) Hermann, J. J. (Mari) Chavez, Amanda Chavez, Jeremy (Samara) Chavez; twenty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ortiz is preceded in the death by his wife, Ramona Ortiz; son, Pascual Ortiz; parents, Pedro and Inez Ortiz; siblings, Pedro L. Ortiz, Angel L. Ortiz, Jose L. Ortiz, Pascual L. Ortiz, Inez L. Ortiz, Aurora Armendariz, Lorenza Gomez, Esperanza Ortiz, and Beatriz Cristan.
