Juan Tervino Gutierrez, 88, of Martinsville, Indiana, passed from this life peacefully and surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, March 4, 2021. He was born in Harlingen, Texas on October 20, 1932 to the late Clemente and Petra (Trevino) Gutierrez.
He married Maria Christine Herrera in 1954. Together they had seven children and enjoyed thirty-two years of marriage before she passed in 1986. He found love again and married Josephine Smith in 1989. She preceded him in death in 2000.
Juan worked for International Harvester/Navistar in Indianapolis for over 32 years as a machinist. He was an avid IU Basketball and Colts Football fan. He enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, hunting, and just being outside with his dog, Lee. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his children and their families.
He leaves behind his loving family including his sons, Jesse Gutierrez of Martinsville, Jerry Gutierrez of Martinsville, John Gutierrez Jr. of Fishers, and Thomas (wife, Pam) Gutierrez of Center Grove; daughters, Rose (husband, Steve) Quakenbush of Florida, Dolores (husband, Brad) Bennett of New York, and Martha (husband, Tim) Diamond of Indiana; sisters, Maria Gutierrez of Texas, Petra Lopez of Alaska, and Frances Gutierrez of Texas; grandchildren, Darcy Silcox, Samantha Gutierrez, Christopher Gutierrez, Austin Gutierrez, Matthew Gutierrez, Cassie Gutierrez, Lance Gutierrez, Brooke Diamond, Colby Diamond, and Jesseca Bennett; step grandchildren, Mandy Greenberg and Ryan Quakenbush; great grandchildren, Alexander Laureano and Azellia Silcox; and step great grandchildren, Oliver Greenberg and Lucas Quakenbush.
He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Maria; 2nd wife, Josephine; parents, Clemente and Petra Gutierrez; brothers, Alfredo Gutierrez, Manuel Gutierrez, Jos? Gutierrez, Clemente Gutierrez, and Jesse Gutierrez; and sister, Elva Segundo.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 12, 2021 in the chapel at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville. The funeral service will be private. Mr. Gutierrez will be laid to rest in St. Martin's Cemetery in Martinsville.
Notice: All in attendance will be required to wear a facemask at all times while in the funeral home.
