Joye D. Kent D.O. of Naples, Florida passed away at home on Sunday, May 29, 2022. She was born on December 21, 1929 in Nashua, New Hampshire; she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Xanthe (Dantos) Katranis.
She graduated as a Doctor of Osteopathic medicine from Kansas City University in Missouri, as the only female in the class of 1955. She was awarded her M.D. diploma from UC Irvine. Joye spent her medical career building a successful family practice in Cleveland, Ohio until retiring to summer in Haverhill, New Hampshire, the winter in Florida at the age of 48, and eventually moving to Naples, Florida.
She was a stock market enthusiast, an avid gardener (especially orchids), and world traveler. She was a lifelong learner; always furthering her knowledge through reading and research.
Joye is survived by her nieces Erica Brizendine (Kent, Cynthia Kent, and Dani Tengler (Kent); nephews Nicholas Kent, Erick Kent, Gary Katranis, and Nicholas Katranis; as well as many great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers Eric Kent and Alex Kent, and nephew Thomas Katranis.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, June 20 from 9:45am to 10:45 am at Zis Sweeney & St. Laurent Funeral Home located at 26 Kinsley St, Nashua, NH, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am at St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church located at 500 W. Hollis St, Nashua, NH.
