Joyce S. Henderberg, 90, of Rome, passed away on February 3, 2020 at Rome Memorial Hospital. Born in Rome on January 30, 1930, she was one of fifteen children born to John and Sarah Vanderhoof Yager. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and on December 25, 1964, she was united in marriage to Gerald Henderberg, a blessed union of 55 years.
Joyce worked for over 25 years at Rome Manufacturing. In her free time, she loved to do crafts and ceramics. Joyce and her late daughter, Dianna, would sell their crafts after various shows throughout the area. She also loved auto racing, whether it be watching it on TV with her husband or at the track following her son Jerry's car.
Surviving besides her loving husband, Jerry, is a daughter, Deborah Esche Ferlo; two sons, Robin (Joanne) Esche and Gerald Henderberg, Jr.; seven grandchildren, Leo (Roxanne) Ferlo, Jr., Julie (Joseph) Brennan, Ronald Daignault Jr., Lisa (Raymond) Meyers, Robert Esche, Henry Esche III and Daniel Esche; and nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Dianna Esche; two grandsons, Richard Daignault and Eliot Esche; and fourteen brothers and sisters.
Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Friday, February 7th from 4-7:00 p.m. in Joyce's memory may be made to the Humane Society of Rome, 6247 Lamphear Rd., Rome, NY 13440.
