Joyce R. Raastad, age 80, Watertown, wife of Arnell, died in Sioux Falls on Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 19, 2021 at 2PM at Grace Lutheran Church at Watertown with visitation 2 hours prior to services. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Watertown. The Reverend Cheryl Rondeau-Bassett will officiate. Casketbearers will be Garrett, Jacob, and Jordan Cornelius, and Mason, Austin, and Quinton Mischke. The pianist will be Judy Evenson.
Joyce Ruth Raastad was born on November 12, 1940 at Watertown, the daughter of Calvin and Julia (Adolph) Howey. She grew to adulthood in the Watertown area graduating from Watertown High School in 1959.
On April 11, 1960 she was united in marriage to Arnell Richard Raastad at Watertown. Joyce was employed by St. Ann's Hospital - Prairie Lakes Hospital as an insurance clerk for 52 years.
In her free moments, she enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved to read, sew and embroider and garden as well. She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers, Calvin "Coney", William "John", Morton "Mort", and Robert "Bob" Howey and sisters, Margaret "Hon" Lauseng, Phyllis Schamens, Ruby Palo, Bonnie Roso, and Rozella Rogge.
Grateful for having shared in her life is her husband Arnell, children, Victor "Vic" (Pamela) Raastad and Loris (Dave) Cornelius all of Watertown, 5 grandchildren, Jennifer (Ian) Miller, Leah (Tanner) Hupp, Randi (Brandon) Schneider, Garrett (April) Cornelius, and Jacob Cornelius and 11 great-grandchildren.
