Joyce Hope Gates, 72, resident of Ripley, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2022, at her residence.
Services honoring the life of Mrs. Gates were at 2PM Thursday, January 5, 2022, in The Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Adams and Bro. Terry Ray Vuncannon officiating. Burial followed in Peoples Cemetery near Ripley.
Mrs. Gates was born on February 6, 1950, to the late Clyde and Gertrude Ketchum Renfrow. She was a graduate of Blue Mountain High School and was a valued employee of Poly Craft for over 17 years before retiring.
Mrs. Gates found much pleasure tending to her gardens and flowerbeds. She also was an avid collector of all kinds of windchimes and angels.
Family was important to Mrs. Gates and she enjoyed every opportunity to share quality time with them, especially her grandchildren.
Visitation was from 5PM until 8PM on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at the Ripley Funeral Home.
Survivors include one son, Jason Scott Gates of Ripley, two stepsons, Steve and Kevin Gates, both of Ripley, five sisters, Maxine Dillard and Dianne Vick, both of Ripley, Linda Bozeman of Blue Mountain, a brother, Dale Renfrow (Becky) of New Albany, six grandchildren, Samantha Gates, Sydney Gates, Haley Shelton, Hannah Taylor, Brittany Clark, D.J. Evans and seven great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Ava, Brayden, Cason, Rylea, Levi, and Jameson.
She is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Gates, two sisters, Jean Robertson, Carolyn Renfrow and three brothers, Kenneth, Gary and Ronald Renfrow
