Mrs. Joyce Lord Hobby, 88, passed away at Magnolia Manor in Americus Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
The graveside service was held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Red Oak Church Cemetery in Doles. The Rev. Grady Morey officiated.
Mrs. Hobby was born in Van Wert, OH to the late William Harold and Lenora Lord.
Upon her graduation from East Michigan University, she embarked on a decades-long career in public education.
Her journey brought her south to Thomasville, GA where, in 1977, she married educator and Pastor Glenn Hobby.
For 40 years, she was a beloved minister's wife, and could be found every Sunday singing in the choir, and sharing her loving smiles and kind words.
With her gentle spirit, Joyce was loved by all who knew her, from her elementary school students, to the many church-goers she bonded with as "the Preacher's wife."
Joyce was a devoted Christian, and nothing was more important to her than her relationship with the Lord.
She is survived by her daughter, Stacy (David) Chambers; step-daughters Dawn Still (Russ) and Shari Cawley (Phil); son-in-law Guy Winklemann; grandsons Zach, Cody and Eli Winklemann, Dylan Shaw, and Chris Tripp; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Lord.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn V. Hobby; her daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Winklemann; and her brother, William H. "Bud" Lord.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Red Oak Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 633 Red Oak Rd., Warwick, GA 31796.
