Joyce Thomas Harrison died on Friday, January 1, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on July 9, 1921 in Lockney, Texas, to parents Robert Ivy Thomas and Lela (Orman) Thomas. Joyce graduated from Lockney High School. She received her bachelor of science from West Texas State University, now West Texas A&M University. She received her Masters of Education from Texas Tech University. Joyce taught in Roosevelt Public Schools and Lubbock Public Schools for a total of 34 years. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and Delta Kappa Gamma, teacher organization.
On December 17, 1942, Joyce married William Henry (Dub) Harrison in Odessa, Texas. They had two daughters together. Karen H. Davis (husband Guy) of Austin, Texas, and Carol H. Jackson (J. Frank) of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Dub, her parents, sisters Beth Thomas & Reva Wells, brother-in-law Dan M. Wells and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dr. Preston & Melba Harrison. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren - Trent Davis, wife Michelle, Emerson & Evan of Austin, Texas; Greg Davis, Sarah & Cami of Austin, Texas; Jeff Jackson, wife Lauren, Harper & Jennings of Reno, Nevada; and Jaime Cooper, husband John, Collins of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A graveside service is planned at Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock, Texas on Tuesday, January 19,, 2021.
