Joyce Moon George peacefully passed away August 17, 2021 at the age of 100. She was born July 24, 1921 in Mt. Enterprise, Texas to Charlie and Lula Parker-Moon. She was the second daughter of seven children.
She married Marshall Weldon George of Long Branch, Texas on July 24, 1941. They were married almost 50 years when he passed away on June 1, 1991.
She worked for Texas Instruments in Richardson, Texas 21 Years before retiring in 1980 and moved to Lake Murval. They became faithful members of Bethel Baptist Church of Clayton.
She was a devoted, avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. She Enjoyed Reading, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
During her lifetime she visited all 50 states, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.
God and Family were the two most important things in her life. She had a zeal for living, extremely sharp mind, photographic memory, and a wonderful sense of humor.
She is survived by her brother, Russell Moon, Daughters, Susan George and Brenda Nix, five grandchildren, Shannon McCay, Stacy Gangloff, Sharla Lewis and Husband Kevin, Jeff Nix and wife Maureen, Kim Reeves and Husband Ricky, six great grand children and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Hawthorn Funeral Home, Carthage, Texas on Sunday, August 22, 2021 with viewing at 1:00 p.m. and services at 2:00 p,m, Burial will follow at the Old Shiloh Cemetery in Rusk County.
In lieu of flowers family suggests memorials in her name to Bethel Baptist Church or Hospice Plus.
