Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel
Joyce Ann Minter Deaton, age 70, of Cedartown, GA passed from this life into the presence of the Lord on January 12, 2025, at Advent-Redmond Hospital.
Mrs. Deaton was born in Rome, Georgia on February 17, 1954, daughter of the late Clifford Emmett Cole Minter and the late Era Geneva Jones Minter. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Donald Wayne "Johnny" Minter, Tommy Edward Minter, and Joan Ellen Pilgrim.
Mrs. Deaton retired from the Floyd County School System as a Building Maintenance Supervisor with approximately 20 years of service. She shared many fond memories of her time collaborating with the staff and students in the Model school district.
Mrs. Deaton enjoyed cooking (she was an incredibly good cook), shopping, traveling, working in her flower gardens, decorating, spending time at the lake and in the mountains. She was a very active lady. The things in life she loved the most were her family and her cats. Not necessarily in that order! She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband, Danny Deaton; a son, Coy Deaton (Sandy); a daughter, Stacy Hess (Trevor); five brothers, Danny Minter (Elsie), Richard Minter (Barbara), Gary Minter (Elaine), and Leroy Minter (Gina); two sisters, Margie Allen (Wayne) and Particia Pope (Paul); six grandchildren, Jessica Deaton, Johnathan Deaton, Hanna Cline, Nicholas Deaton, Brayden Hess, and Katie Peele; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Deaton will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 1pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Rev. Kenneth Boatner officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Friday from 5 until 7pm.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday at 12:30pm and include Active: Kenny Deaton, Joe Minter, Shane Chrisman, Nicolas Deaton, Brayden Hess, and Cody Minter. Honorary: Jacob Minter.
