It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, Josh King. He passed away with family at his side.
Josh was the older son of Jerry and Rose King, and he grew up on Camano Island with his parents and younger brother Jason. He attended Stanwood schools where he developed many strong and enduring friendships.
As a youth, Josh loved sports. He started playing soccer at a young age and competed for both his school and on select club teams. He ran cross-country for Stanwood High School and competed in the state finals. He enjoyed active sports: hiking, biking, snowboarding. His love for soccer continued as an adult, and he was an avid supporter of Chelsea FC.
Josh developed a strong work ethic which was learned as he milked cows for the Ovenell family. He worked summers as a maintenance helper for the Stanwood School District and also for the Washington DOT.
Josh graduated from Central Washington University and worked for the cell phone industry. As a senior manager at T-Mobile, Josh excelled at building up his team members. He could find talent in anyone and knew how to develop them to their better selves. During company reorganizations, multiple T-Mobile employees literally relocated to be able to continue to work with Josh. Josh was always the first one to arrive at work and the last one to leave. He worked long hours and took on every responsibility that was given to him with grace and humor.
Josh loved to travel. He went on several cruises to the Mediterranean and Caribbean, and loved to relax on the beach and leave his concerns and responsibilities behind. He enjoyed reading, spending time with family and friends, and listening to a variety of good music. He was the best dog dad in the world to his beagle babies Ellie, Finn, and Gracie. He found enjoyment watching birds which was a legacy left to him by his grandmother Thelma and uncle Walt.
Josh brought so much light to the world. His infectious laugh would fill the room, and people would try to make him laugh just so they could hear him.
Josh is survived by his parents Jerry and Rose King, brother Jason King and wife Jaime, beloved nieces Olive and Hazel King, former wife Erin King, aunts, uncles, numerous cousins and countless friends who grieve his passing.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 4 at 11:00 am at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Stanwood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Josh L. King Memorial Scholarship through the Stanwood Camano Area Foundation (PO Box 1209, Stanwood WA 98292, or www.s-caf.org) to help graduating students of Stanwood High School further their education.
