Joseph L. "Joe" Watson, Sr., 68, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022
at Community Hospital South.
Born February 15, 1954 in Sterns, Kentucky, he was the son of Otis Watson and
Betty (Burchfield) Watson. He married Debbie (Kingery) Watson on June 15, 1973
and she survives.
Other survivors include 3 children- Joseph L. Watson Jr., (wife Renea) of Greenwood,
Patricia Griffin (husband Robert) of Franklin, Benjamin Watson ((wife Krissy) of Franklin;
2 brothers- Leon Watson of Shelbyville, Michael Watson of Kentucky; 7 sisters- Helen
Gibson of Rushville, Wilma Troxell of Connersville, Tammy Day of Waldron, Sandy Shaw
of Flat Rock, Donna Ford of Florida, Pam Poe of Morristown, Debra Jean Langley of
Waldron; 7 grandchildren- Cristina, Jodi, Joseph III, Savanna, Aaron, Kendra, David Ray;
and 2 great grandchildren- Joseph IIII and Elijah. He was preceded in death by his parents,
3 brothers- David, Jimmie, & Otis Watson Jr.
Mr. Watson had lived in the Franklin area for 40 years, after moving from Shelbyville. He had been
a machine mechanic for 22 years with Stokley Van Camp of Indianapolis, and a machine
operator with International Fuel for 16 years. He attended Friendship Baptist Church.
Joe enjoyed attending church and Bible Study. He was a devoted family man and loved
to spend time with his family.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon on Friday, July 1, 2022 at Glenn E. George &Son Funeral
Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor George Mitchell officiating. Friends may call on Friday
morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service, at the funeral home.
Memorial contribution can be made to American Cancer Association, in care of the funeral home.
