Joseph Ogurchak, 82, of Wadsworth, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home January, 18, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones.
Joe was born April 14, 1939 in Akron, Ohio to the late Joseph and Margaret (Verdon) Ogurchak. Joe graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1957 and attended the University of Notre Dame on a full scholarship. After graduating in 1961, he married his high school classmate, Anne (Zelsky) and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he worked for Sandia National Laboratories and earned his Master's Degree in Engineering from the University of New Mexico. Two years and two children later, he moved back to Ohio and worked for NASA, IBM, Babcock & Wilcox, Belden & Blake, and Westfield Company. He also taught part-time at the University of Akron, managed rental properties, and developed a consulting business.
Joe liked to stay busy reading, golfing, following sports-especially Notre Dame team sports, participating in his church, traveling, and experiencing a large variety of food. He always enjoyed attending his children's, grandchildren's, and great grandchildren's sporting, music, and extracurricular events. For almost 20 years, Fountain Hills, Arizona was his winter home. Many family and friends have commented on the positive influence that Joe had on their lives.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Anne; daughters Joanne (Michael) Holbert, and Doreen (Bruce) Brindley; sons David, Mark, Kevin (Sandy), and Brian Ogurchak; grandchildren Maryanne (Ollie) Arnold, Matthew (Lindsay), Derrick (Emily), and Nathan (Kristen) Holbert, Hannah (Derek) Herrick Runge, Courtney Springfield, and Conner Herrick; great grandchildren Ollena, Arlena, Olivia, Audrey, Oliver, and Amaya Arnold, Fallon and Lauren Holbert; sister Joyce Eberhardt, numerous nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law Helen Gahera and Marie (William) Gasser, life long friends Don and Judy Fightmaster, and extra son Curtis Herrick.
Arrangements are being handled by Cox- McNulty Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held August 17, 2022.
