Joseph A. Murad, Jr., 90, of Bethel, husband of the late Julia (Caplan) Murad, died on Wednesday, February 9, 2022.
Mr. Murad was born in Danbury, August 6, 1931, son of the late Joseph S. and Sophie (Ocher) Murad. He was a graduate of Bethel High School and Henry Abbott Technical School. Joe served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict receiving the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and a Presidential Unit Citation.
Mr. Murad was a retired master carpenter who built over 1000 homes in his lifetime.
He was an avid sports fan and played basketball for the Knights of Columbus and in later years with various local basketball teams.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Maronite Church of Danbury.
Mr. Murad is survived by two sons, Joseph Murad and his wife Denise of Bluffton, SC and Charles "Chuck" Murad and his wife Laura of Danbury, two daughters, Louanne Murad Allen and her husband Greg of Miami, FL and Joanne Murad Badin and her husband Rob of Rockfall, CT and 6 grandchildren - Joey, Nick, Rachel, Melanie, Sara, and Lauren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Murad was predeceased by a brother Raymond L. Murad. Most recently, he had resided with his daughter, Joanne, at their home in Rockfall.
Memorial services will take place on Saturday, February 19th, 2022, at St. Anthony's Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury. The family will receive friends at St. Anthony's Church on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. followed by a short tribute to honor Joseph's memory. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Danbury with military honors.
