Joseph P. Miloni Retired Sgt. Major, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022 in San Angelo, TX after a courageous battle with dementia. Joe was born June 22, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska. He attended Central High School in Omaha. Joe left for the USMC in 1947 where he served 30 years with distinction during the Korean & Vietnam wars. He was a combat veteran and was the recipient of 4 purple hearts, as well as numerous awards for Valor. Joe was decorated after his service in Korea at the Incheon landing and the battle of Chosen reservoir. He also served 2 1/2 tours of duty in Vietnam. Joe will always be remembered as having a can do attitude and his ability to motivate people to get the job done. Joe had a second career as a street maintenance foreman with the city of Omaha. He enjoyed his work with the city, especially the people he worked with. Joe married the love of his life Fran in July 1987. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., American Legion, and Vietnam Veterans and was a founding member of The Texas Veterans for Veterans. He also belonged to the Sons of Italy and Santa Lucia Festival Committee in Omaha. He was preceded in death by his parents Carmela and Louis Miloni; sister Fina Core; brothers Tony Miloni and Louis Miloni and daughter Toni Halpenny. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Frances Adams Miloni; sister Paulina Vieceli; daughters Christy Lovett (Alan), Cindy Walker (Raymond) and Angela Smith (Terry); stepdaughters Cherie Tuite (Cathal) and Kat Wilcox (Jack); 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Fran would like to thank the Springs Memory Care and the staff for their loving care of Joe for the short time he was there. Neighbors, Rich, Ruth and Angie Cunningham for their help and love. Friend Dakotta Daniels for being a lifesaver on numerous occasions! Christy for her love and devotion to me and her father. She called every day. Without her support I would not have been able to get thru all the difficult times. Lastly my best friend Mary M. no words necessary. A celebration of life will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home Monday, July 18th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at a later date in Omaha, Nebraska.
