Our son passed away peacefully April 19, 2021 as the result of a tragic accident of being struck by an automobile as a pedestrian. Jody was born August 22, 1977 in Tampa, FL. He is survived by his parents Bet and Jody; sister, Lissa Mize; brother in law, Rich Mize; his nephews, Griffin, Cannon and Richie Mize; God Mother, Kay Heller; Aunts and Uncles; numerous cousins and devoted friends. Jody was an accomplished and self taught guitarist. Writing music and playing his guitar was his passion. He grew up in Tampa attending local schools and Santa Fe Community College. His dearest friends remember him as the kindest person they ever knew. One of his closest friends described him this way: "You could always count on Jody to show up for people, to answer the phone, to lend an ear." "He had so many friends because he was such a true friend himself." "People were naturally drawn to his kindness, wit and warmth." We would like to thank everyone for their genuine outpouring of love. We wish to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the nurses in the neuro ICU at Bayfront Medical center for their passionate and loving care, especially his nurse Ali, Dr. Basiouny and Dr. Bell. Due to Covid-19, the family will hold a private service and burial. If desired in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of their choice.
