Joseph M. Yonis, Sr., 76, of New Lexington, Ohio died at 5:05pm on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the Wexner Medical Center at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
Born April 26, 1944 in Atlasburg, Pennsylvania to the late Mike F. and Agnes Dolores Budash Yonis.
Joe was the owner and operator of Yonis and Sons Logging; very faithful member of South Main Church of Christ in New Lexington; he started the Hull Pottery Association and he loved to travel, big game hunting, trips and mowing his grass.
Survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Groves Yonis; son, Edwin P. (Sheila) Yonis; grandchildren, Lorain (Dave) Hughes, Joseph Yonis and Jake Yonis; great-grandchildren, Riley and Heaven; siblings, Dolores Yonis, LaMartha Yonis Vaughn and Mary Yonis Schofield; several half-brothers and half-sisters, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, preceded in death by a son, Joseph M. Yonis, Jr. and a brother, Charles D. Yonis.
Calling hours will be held from 11am-1pm with funeral service at 1:00pm with Larry Arnold, Evangelist officiating on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the South Main Church of Christ, 7 Smith Street, New Lexington, Ohio.
Burial will follow in Rehoboth Cemetery.
