Joe Louvar passed away December 11th, 2023, at 88 years old. He was preceded in death by his his wife Diane of 62 years, on June 25th, 2023, parents, Louise (Gorgol) and James Louvar and brothers Jim & Erv and sister Marylou. Joe is survived by his four children, Joyce (Gary Chester), Edmund (Susan), George (Rebecca) and Claire (Cristino Canga); eight grandchildren, Grayson, Jack, Elizabeth, Melissa, Diane, Michael, Emma and Aidan; his sister-in-law Joyce Ryan and family; his nieces and nephews and their families. He was born and raised in the south side of Chicago Illinois, and lived in Michigan for 45 years. After graduating from De La Salle High School in Chicago, he went on to the Missouri School of Mining and Metallurgy, Carnegie Institute of Technology (Carnegie Mellon) and Wayne State University. He retired after 35 years, as a Chemical Engineer from BASF in Wyandotte MI and after 18 years as a Professor from Wayne State University, in Detroit MI. His final years were spent in Wisconsin. He loved his family, was well-educated, did charitable work with Catholic Extension and was a man of strong Catholic faith. Please see full obituary www.churchandchapel.com/obituaries.
