GODWIN, JOSEPH QUINCY, 82, of Madisonville, TN, passed away 1:35 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Quincy was born May 1, 1939 in Camden, SC to the late James Quincy and Emmie Elliott Godwin. He served 6 years in the National Guard. He retired after 32 plus years from E.I. DuPont as a mechanic. He played basketball and church softball. He was a member of the 57 & 58 championship basketball team at Camden High School. He loved to visit aunts and uncles and all relatives. Church was a big part of his life. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord at age 12. Currently he was a member of First Baptist Church, Lenoir City, TN. He was a former member of Malvern Hill Baptist and First Baptist Camden where he served as a deacon and on many other committees. He was married to Pat Blackmon Godwin for 58 plus years. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tina Godwin Sinclair and Bruce Sinclair. In addition to his wife and daughter, Quincy is survived by sisters Jean G. Roberts, Bobbie G. Polson, Delores G. Cater and Janet G. Curry and her husband, Bob. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gideon's International or a charity of choice. A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 24 at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville, TN. Lex Wiggins will speak.
