Joe Gleisinger, 86, passed away January 25, 2022. He was born April 8, 1935 in Barberton to the late William and Mabel Gleisinger.
Joe retired as a stationary engineer from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company with 32 years of service. In his free time, he liked to go fishing on Lake Erie, play Euchre with his friends and take his classic 1967 Delta 88 Oldsmobile to car shows especially with his brother-in-law Gerry Duncan. He and his wife were members of the Canton Chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America. Joe was a member of Queen of Heaven Church, in Green, where he served as an usher and was a member of the Holy Name Society.
Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Earl; sisters Joann Sweazy, Janice Bubner and Marguerite Kincaid. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, JoAnn Gleisinger; daughters, Lori (Alan) Shelly and Lisa Gleisinger; granddaughters, Allison (Michael) Lancaster and Alisha (Devin) Kight; 2 great grandchildren; brother, Edward; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank the Green Fire Department paramedics and the Summa Hospice doctors and nurses for the compassionate care they gave him.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 with Pastor Dave Duncan officiating. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 12:30 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe's name to Green Fire Department.
