Joseph Albert Garbacz, Jr, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2024 at the age of 79. He was born to the late Joseph Albert Garbacz Sr. and Elizabeth Veronica (Sadecki) Garbacz on October 17, 1944 in Harvey, Illinois.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Jane (Bondhus) Garbacz and sons; Bryan and Daniel Garbacz.
Joe is survived by his sister, Anita (James "Mike") Andrasco; his brothers, Robert (Laura)Garbacz; Frank (Joan) Garbacz; daughter-in-law, Ellen (Wilson) Garbacz; brother-in-law, Steve Bondhus; and several nieces and nephews.
Joe served in the Army during the Vietnam War where he earned a Bronze Star for outstanding meritorious service in military operations. After returning from the Army, Joe and Jane moved to St. Louis, MO, and resided there for more than 40 years. Joe and Jane started their own investment firm, The Garbacz Group, Inc in 1987. They had great pride in watching their vision grow into success over the years. Business was never just business, once you became a client of Joe's, you became family. Joe and Jane were long time members at Sunset Country Club in St. Louis. They made many treasured friendships there over the years. Joe loved to play golf, dance with his beautiful wife, Jane, and take the family on vacations. Joe, Jane and the boys often went skiing in Colorado or boating and fishing at Lake of the Ozarks with the extended family.
Joe's family was very important to him. He loved us all and we all loved him, dearly. Though he will be missed by us all, we take great solace and peace as a family knowing that Joe has been reunited in Heaven with Jane, Bryan and Dan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Rd, Mishawaka, IN, at a future date, soon to be determined. There are plans to have a visitation prior to the mass.
