Joseph J. Egresitz, Jr., 76, of Alpharetta, GA passed away on September 5, 2021. Joe was born in Harrisburg (Shipoke), Pennsylvania to the late Joseph J. Sr. and Ruth E. (Hare) Egresitz. He was a graduate of John Harris High School, Gettysburg College, and the MBA Program at Georgia State University. He was a brother of The Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.
A versatile athlete, he was the only Gettysburg football player to be named First Team All-Conference on both the offensive and defensive units in the same year. He was named to additional honorary teams, including the Associated Press Little All-American First Team. After graduation, he was signed by the Dallas Cowboys and then went on to play for the Washington Redskins and the Boston Patriots. Joe was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, the Pennsylvania Central Chapter Sports Hall of Fame, and twice into the Gettysburg College Hall of Athletic Honor.
Joe and family moved to Atlanta in 1985. He had a successful career in Telecommunications with BellSouth, Philips, and most recently as an officer of DictaPlus, NorthAmerica, Inc. He volunteered with Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association (ALTA) and the Paralympics. He was smart and creative as a teacher, coach, artist & draftsman who loved going out for brunch, playing poker, traveling to Europe, wood working, singing "oldies but goodies" and spending time with his granddaughter, friends, and family.
In his passing, he leaves his wife of 48 years, Jacqueline (Adams); his daughter Stephanie Graves, his son-in law Mark and granddaughter Drew. His sisters Sheila Sell & Ruth Ann Weirich and brother Stephen Egresitz. Nephews Keith, Kreg, Rob, Rick and nieces Jennifer and Leigh. Last, but not least, his grand pup, Nala.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., September 17, 2021 at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 3400 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek, Georgia, 30022.
