Joseph Richard Doucette ("Dick"), 97, passed away on June 26, 2022, in Port Charlotte, FL. Dick was born June 28, 1924, in Chelsea, MA, but grew up in Boston, MA. After high school, he joined the US Navy, where he became a Navy SeaBee during World War II. He married Eleanor Doucette. They moved to Plaistow, NH, where they went into the hardware business. Dick and Eleanor divorced after 28 years, but continued to run their hardware store together for 35 years. After this time, he married Rita Deagle. They resided in Hampstead, NH for 20 years. Upon retirement, they moved to Florida. They were married for 28 years when Rita passed away. While in Florida, Dick met and married Sheila Simon, and they traveled extensively.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Doucette, Englewood, FL, his son, Richard Doucette, and granddaughter, Naomi Longmire. Survivors also include his stepdaughter, Patricia Donnelly, and Deborah Yelton, nieces; Cheryl and Loretta, and nephews; Buddy and Wally . He was predeceased by his sister, Eleanor Zaremba, and brother, Tommy Doucette.
A memorial service will be held for Dick on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 12:00, at the American Legion #113, 3436 Indiana Ave, Rotonda West, FL.
