Mr. Joseph Lanier "Joe" Cumbee, 91, of Clearwater, SC, beloved husband of seventy-two years to Eldora Bell Cumbee, entered into rest on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, in the comfort of his home.
A lifelong area resident, he was a son of the late Carl and Ruby Ferrell Cumbee. He began his twenty-eight-year career with South Carolina Electric and Gas as a Lineman and retired at the age of fifty-three as a supervisor. He was an active member of Clearwater First Baptist Church prior to his health declining. Joe was happiest when he was hunting, trips to his lake house with the family, keeping his rental properties up and fishing, fishing, and even more fishing!
In addition to his wife and parents, family members include his daughters, Debra Atkinson and her husband, Harold and Donna Holland, a sister, the late Eileen Padgett, grandchildren, Heather Holland and Joseph Holland and his companion, April Boone, great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Feagin, Tyler Feagin, Waylon Holland and Liam Holland and a great-great-granddaughter, Mila Brazell.
Friends will be greeted by the family on Thursday, April 4, 2024, beginning at 1 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Pastor Bear Grant will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC.
The kind and compassionate care provided by Mildred and Christian with Gentiva Hospice is sincerely appreciated.
Considering his love for his church, the family has asked that memorials be made to Clearwater First Baptist Church. (www.clearwaterfbc.org)
