Joseph Edward Anderson, 49 from Raymond, NH, formally from Merrimack, NH passed away on November 29th, 2021. He was the son of Robert Anderson and the late Janice Gendron (Howe). Joe was born in Holland, MA and he lived there until he moved to Upton, ME in his teens. He graduated from Telstar High School in Bethel, ME. From there Joe went into the United States Army where he proudly served from '91 to '94. Joe was stationed in Fort Sill, OK before being shipped off to Germany. He was an Army Specialist, Field Artillery Mechanic with the 2nd Armored Division, Hell On Wheels. He worked on M109A6 tankers. Joe took those mechanic skills and went into the civilian working field, working various jobs and finally ending up at the City of Nashua in early 2007, where he worked as a mechanic. Joe held the position of Chief Steward for the AFSCME Union from 2013 to 2015 and was voted to AFSCME Union President in 2015. In November of 2016 Joe stepped down from Union President due to being promoted to Fleet Maintenance Foreman at The City of Nashua which was his current position. Joe was an active member of the American Legion, Post 98 as well as a member of the VFW Post 8641 in Merrimack.
Along with his mother Janice, Joe was pre-deceased by his son Matthew Anderson on April 18th, 2021.
Joe will be missed and never forgotten by his daughter Maegan Anderson, his father Robert Anderson and his stepmother Lucy Thompson, his brother Jason Anderson and sister in-law Tiffany Anderson, nephews Michael Anderson and Brendon Anderson, his niece Fiona Anderson, his adopted nephew Anthony Cushing and by his wife Cece Cushing.
Joe loved music. He loved to sing and was good at it too! He enjoyed riding his motorcycle with the American Legion Riders. Joe loved to go shooting, he loved his family, his pets and he loved his wife. Joe was a well-liked, very loved and loving, kind man. He was patient and understanding. He was extremely intelligent and crafty, he could do and fix anything. He was a true gentleman, an amazing friend! He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A proud United States Veteran, a son, a brother, a father, a husband and a friend. Everything... Joe.
Memorial visitation hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack NH on Sunday, December 5th, 2021 from 3 - 5 PM with a service by the American Legion at 5 PM. Burial will be held at the NH VA Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen on Monday, December 6th, 2021 at 12 Noon.
