Jonathan Hill, 69, of Richmond, NH, passed away on January 15, 2025. He was born on October 8, 1955, in Keene, NH, son of the late Daniel and Lucille (Boodey) Hill.
Jon grew up on the farm in Ashuelot, NH, attended Ashuelot School and graduated with the Thayer High School class of 1973. He worked at Kelly Farm and Beaman Lumber. He also worked for the DHIA collecting milk samples from many of the Cheshire County dairy farms. Jon retired from NHDOT after many years of faithful service. He enjoyed and made good use of his retirement years.
Much of Jon's time was spent in the outdoors. He was an ardent fisherman. Fly fishing was his passion and he spent many pleasurable hours teaching his nephews, nieces, grand nephews , and grand nieces the art of fly fishing. Under his tutelage, two of his nephews have gone on to become professional fly fishing guides.
If he wasn't already "booked" Jon would jump at the chance to hike, mountain bike, kayak, walk, or take a trip to camp with family, friends, or neighbors.
Jon always had more than one garden and many fruit trees, sharing and preserving the bounty.
Whether haying, sugaring, sawing lumber, tackling building projects, you name it, Jon was eager to help. He always brought along his sense of humor, his quiet expertise, and his knowledge and skills.
Jon is survived by his sisters, Ruth Joslin and Rebecca Hill, his brothers-in-law Roger Joslin and Rob Moulton, his sister-in-law Pat Hill and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, David Hill and Timothy Hill, and his sister Jennie Lu Hill.
Please join the Hill family on Friday, January 24, 11:00-2:00 at the Winchester VFW as we remember and share stories.
