Johnnie E. Cook, Jr., "Chipper," 68, passed into the arms of Jesus on October 5, 2021. Johnnie was born on December 2, 1952, in Atlanta, Georgia to Johnnie and Anne Cook. The family moved to Cobb County, Georgia where Chipper started school. He graduated from Sprayberry High School in 1970, where he ran long distance track and played baseball. Johnnie joined the Air Force and served in the Strategic Air Command until honorably discharged. It was during that time he met his Savior and gave his life into the Lord's service. He never tired talking about and preaching the Gospel, even after nearly fifty years. After his time in the Air Force, he came home to Georgia and graduated from Kennesaw State University with a degree in Data Processing. Johnnie was a member of the Atlanta West Pentecostal Church for over 40 years. He was self-employed as a paint contractor for 40 years, and retired after 6 years from Kia Automobile Company as a line supervisor. He went on many missions trips, both here and abroad, with his last trip being to Nepal. He was planning his next trip back there, and to mark off his bucket list the task of climbing a short distance up Mount Everest. Johnnie was a hard-working man who provided well for his family. He was a caring & loving father and grandfather, and cared deeply for people.
Johnnie is survived by his son, Cameron Cook & wife Loran; sisters, Joanne Webster & husband William, Sara Nell Henderson and husband Jack, and Janice Cook; grandchildren, Carter, Sydney, & Camelia Cook, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie E. Cook, Sr. & Anne Cook. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 2:00pm at Atlanta West Pentecostal Church in Lithia Springs, with Brother Darryl Johns officiating. Interment will follow the service at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta, GA. A visitation will be held one hour before the service at Atlanta West Pentecostal Church, and on Thursday, October 14, 2021 between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:00pm at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home - Macland Chapel in Powder Springs, GA.
