John Zara

John Zara, 87, of Boca Raton, Florida passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017. The Celebration of John's Life will be held at 11 o'clock am on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Babione-Kraeer Funeral Home in Boca Raton, FL. John was born in Union, New Jersey on September 3, 1929. He resided in Succasunna, NJ, for 42 years before retiring to Boca Raton, Florida in 1993. John celebrated his 67th Wedding Anniversary in February with his wife, Lorraine Zara.

John was the owner-operator of Zara Brothers Mason Contractors, which he formed with his brother Frank in 1952. He was a lifetime member of the Roxbury Fire Company #1. He was also actively involved with the Roxbury Colts football and wrestling programs, as well as the Roxbury HS Father's Club. In retirement, he especially loved golfing and serving as the president of his condo association. John was a member of Saint Joan of Arc church in Boca Raton.

John was full of life and shared great love for his family. His energy and laugh were contagious. John's generosity was second to none when it came to his church, friends and family. John is survived by his wife Lorraine Zara (Schultz), children, Lorraine DeGrande, Frank Zara (Dotty) and daughter in-law Gwyn Zara. Grandchildren, Michael DeGrande (Emily), Matthew DeGrande, Dawn Wells (James), John Zara (Stephanie), Brittany, Chelsea and Alexis Zara. Great grandchildren, Jayden, Anthony and Mason Wells. John is also survived by siblings Rita Cortese, Frank Zara, William Zara, Anne Mitchell and Lucille Long. John is preceded in death by his son Anthony Zara and his siblings Samuel Zara and Theresa Uslan.

Arrangements under the direction of Babione-Kraeer Funeral Home, Boca Raton, FL.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in John's name to the Dementia Society of America.
